]]> Nicky Hayden was back with another special helmet for the 2013 Indianapolis GP, and like the one he wore the year before, this design was also inspired by a Hollywood classic. The new graphic is now available for the Arai Corsair-V as the Nicky GP Camo and features a theme loosely based on the well-known Vietnam-era combat helmet from the poster art for Full Metal Jacket. The Nicky GP Camo again cleverly shows Nicky’s face peeking out underneath “half helmet” within the design. A caricature of the Kentucky Kid is also found on the back and shows him in camo, wielding a muffler like a rifle.

]]> The Isle of Man TT may have wrapped up last weekend, but that doesn’t mean that the celebration has to be over. For the third year in a row, Arai has released their their extremely limited edition helmet to commemorate the event. The 2012 Arai IoM TT helmet celebrates 101 years of racing on The Mountain where riders continually push the limits of their wit and their machines over the winding 37.75 mile course. This years’ design was once again created by Aldo Drudi, whose work is well known to many motorcycle racers and enthusiasts alike. And, just like Arai’s standard Corsair-V, this helmet is entirely hand-made and features superior ventilation, exceptional comfort and an outstanding finish.

  • This is a very limited release that is not available for online sales
  • The rear of the helmet is adorned with a map of the IoM TT circuit.
  • Both of the Corsair-V’s Hyperridge top vents have “Isle of Man” painted on them, but only one is in English. The second is in the native Manx language and it reads “Ellan Vannin.”

]]> Colin Edwards has always been one of the most personable riders in the paddock, and the popularity of his previous Arai replica helmets has always reflected this. Edwards first showed his latest helmet design at the Indianapolis GP last summer and its bold design definitely turned some heads.

Dubbed the Patriot, the helmet does not leave you wondering why. Bold stars and stripes wrap around the sides of the helmet, with the Special Warfare insignia of the US Navy Seals prominently displayed on top. Colin explained that this was meant to honor the 22 Seals and 8 other US personnel that were killed when their Chinook was shot down in Afghanistan in August of 2011 – just weeks before the race at Indy.
