HOLLAND, Mich. (June 24, 2014) – After a blistering hot weekend at Barber Motorsports Park under the new two-day format, Riders Discount Triumph edges closer to the top spot in the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Championship. Thanks to some hard work by the crew and a little luck, Danny Eslick is now just 12 points behind Jake Gagne going into Laguna Seca where Eslick won last time he raced the GoPro Daytona SportBike class.

“I believe we had a solid bike but with the lack of testing it put us in a difficult position,” said Brian Gibson, Riders Discount Triumph team owner. “With the short two-day format we were chasing our tails. But all and all we came out of the weekend only 12 points out of the championship lead instead of 22 and we have to look at that as a success. The next round is at Laguna Seca where we have some data from 2013 when we raced with both Joey Pascarella and Jake Zemke, so that should help us hit the ground running a little faster than when we arrived at Barber.”

“This was the first time we’ve done the two day schedule for a race weekend and I think this was definitely not my weekend and things weren’t going properly,” said Riders Discount Triumph rider, Danny Eslick. “We started the day yesterday behind the 8-ball and whenever you have limited track time and limited qualifying, it’s hard to make up time. We were stuck in seventh, or eighth place in race one, but luckily we had a couple guys go off in front of us finishing fifth, and sixth overall in race two. After coming into this race 22 points down in the championship and leaving only 12 back, it’s not a terrible weekend. We’ll chalk it up as a completed weekend. We didn’t tear anything up, and we’ll move to Laguna and go get us a win.”

The FIM Superbike World Championship, GEICO Motorcycle U.S. Round at Laguna Seca is July 11-13.

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (June 2, 2014) – Riders Discount Triumph’s Danny Eslick secured a fourth place finish on Sunday after crashing out of Saturday’s race.

Saturday did not go quite as planned for the Riders Discount Triumph crew. Electronic issues disrupted second qualifying, and a high side in turn 13 on lap two of race one left the crew rebuilding the second bike under AMA Pro Racing’s new one bike rule. Asked about his 103 mph crash Danny said, “I’m a little bit beat up, banged up, bruised, but my pride’s probably hurt more than any of it. I think it was 2008 since I’ve last crashed out of a race. It’s a bit of a disappointment for me, that was a pretty good run I had going there.”

Sunday was the dawn of a new day. A new engine, and a new chassis meant Danny would be riding a completely different motorcycle. Danny started in fifth position until fourth place Triumph’s Jason Disalvo suffered mechanical issues allowing Danny to slot into fourth for the remainder of the race, finishing as the top Triumph rider. “Today’s race was pretty uneventful for me,” Danny said Sunday. “I was just trying to salvage the best finish I could and stay in line for the championship.”

“After a rough weekend like ours it definitely let’s you know what your team and rider are made of,” said Riders Discount Triumph team owner, Brian Gibson. “After a 103 mph high side crash for Danny and the team having to completely build a new bike, it showed we have one tough rider and a great crew. Not only did we make the race Sunday we were able to battle and finish with a very solid fourth place position. With that being said, I can only thank the whole Riders Discount Triumph team for salvaging a very difficult weekend and keeping us in a strong second position in the championship.”

Danny and the Riders Discount Triumph team hold second place in the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Championship and are looking forward to the Triumph SuperBike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park in a little under three weeks.

Features such as the vented external thermoplastic protection in the shoulder and elbow, internal GP style bio-armor in the elbow and forearm, offer the very best in protection.

Essentially the top half of their race replica suit, this jacket is not going to be your preferred jacket to go to the mall. This is an aggressively cut, race fit jacket made for spirited rides on your favorite road. A full 360 zip allows you to attach the optional GP Plus pants allowing you to take it to the track as well.

Available in black/white, and white/red.

The Alpinestars GP Tech Air leather jacket stays plenty cool on those hot summer rides with full perforation along the front panel and back panel. The jacket goes above and beyond with additional ventilation along the top of the GP hump and arms. Don’t worry, Alpinestars includes a removable windproof vest for the early morning or late evening rides.

As with their race suits, Alpinestars includes a foam back pad. We highly recommend adding the optional Alpinestars Bionic Race back protector that snaps in to the jacket itself. The jacket also includes pockets to add optional Alpinestars Bionic Chest inserts. Both are available from Riders Discount, be sure to ask about these optional additions when you place your order.

External thermoplastic protection

Plenty of ventilation with the Alpinestars GP Tech Air Jacket

Brembo Radial Master Cylinders are found on the fastest bikes in the world because they’re powerful, reliable and built to exacting tolerances for consistent performance under a wide range of conditions. Brembo’s 19 RCS master cylinder is no exception. It offers the unique ability to change brake lever ratios from 19×20 (for power) to 19×18 (for feel) with a simple turn of the screw, something not possible on other Brembo brake master cylinders. The 19 RCS is manufactured using a combination of forge-casting and CNC-machining. Forged parts have a particular advantage over parts machined from billet when it comes to strength since the metal’s grain structure follows closely the shape of the part as it is pressed into its final form. After forging, the aluminum master cylinder blank is then machined to accept all of its hardware: banjo bolt, brake reservoir spigot, lever attachment and – most critical, the brake piston assembly. This multi-stage manufacturing process ensures both strength, through the forging process and precision via CNC finishing – both of which contribute to the master cylinder’s consistent, exacting performance that has made it the “must have” brake upgrade component.

Every Brembo 19 RCS master cylinder comes complete with a break-away lever for crash survivability, a dual-line banjo bolt and a micro-switch controller for street applications allowing you to activate the rear brake light without the need to buy a separate pressure-sensitive banjo bolt switch.

The closing round of the AMA Daytona Sportbike season is now just days away and the Riders Discount Triumph semi is about to roll into the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the second, and final time this year. The season has had its ups and downs, but both of the team’s riders, Joey Pascarella and Jake Zemke, are more than ready take to the track aboard their 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R’s for their last AMA ride of the year. The team’s previous outing in New Jersey may have had mixed results, with Zemke capturing two top tens and Pascarella running into bad luck in both races, but there was lot of developmental progress made with the bikes. Everyone involved with the team is looking forward to a strong finale as they share the Laguna Seca paddock with the World Superbike Championship this weekend.

“I’m very excited heading into Laguna,” said Joey Pascarella. “Its always nice to not only race close to home, but also to have it be a track that I enjoy as much as this one. The team has been putting a lot of effort into working on the bikes and we’ve made a lot of progress in the weeks leading up to this round. I have a good feeling about this weekend and think it will be a good one on the Riders Discount Triumph.”

“I’m really looking forward to the race this weekend at Laguna Seca,” commented Zemke. “The Riders Discount team made some great improvements to the Triumph last time out, and I know they’ve been working on the bikes non-stop since then. The crew and I are excited to get back out to the track so that we can see how much more we can get out of the bike. I’ve only been with the team for a few races, but I’m looking to finish off the season strong.”

Team manager Bree Poland had this to say, “I can’t believe we have just one round left! The team has really come together and we are starting to see some major progress. We may not have lit the world on fire with our results this year, but had we had a little more time I think we would have. The riders have been great as well. This is my third season working with Joey Pascarella and I believe in his talent. I would love to see him leave Laguna with a good finish. Bringing Jake on the team for the last few rounds was a really good choice as well. He has really helped bring our program to the next level.”

“I want to personally thank Triumph for providing us the opportunity to race their bikes”, she went on to say. “As well as all of our sponsors who have supported us and stood by our side.

Joey Pascarella and Riders Discount Triumph wrapped up the 4th round of the AMA Pro Road Racing Daytona Sportbike season at Mid-Ohio with a 13th place in Saturday’s race and an 11th place finish on Sunday. While these may not be the results the team was hoping for, they did gain a great of valuable insight and data on their 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R’s throughout the weekend.

Qualifying had Pascarella starting from the 10th spot on the grid for Saturday’s race, but an issue with a hose during the warm up lap forced him to pull off and push the bike to the wall. Luckily this all occurred close enough to the pits that he was able to sprint back to the paddock. As soon as they realized what had happened, the crew worked quickly to remove the tire warmers from the backup 675R and get it off of the stands so that Pascarella could start his race in earnest – all while the rest of the competition sped away. Despite being on a bike that he hadn’t intended to race, Pascarella was able to put his head down and churn out an impressive run of steadily improving lap times that brought him back up to 13th from well behind the very back of the field.

“I was feeling good going into the first race after making some changes to the setup in order to get more rear grip,” said Pascarella on Saturday. “Unfortunately we had the water leak just before the start and I had to push the bike to the pit wall. I made it onto the backup bike and started from pit lane, so I was pretty much riding by myself for a while. On the plus side, I did get some good data for the crew and was able to put in some quick laps that ended up being faster than I had gone in any of the previous practice or qualifying sessions.”

Team manager Bree Poland added, “Even though we finished the race in 13th, I’m really glad Joey was able to get back to the pits and back out on track. Everyone else had a solid head start at that point and he was still able to put in a couple of his fastest laps of the weekend up to that point – even though he was on a bike he didn’t mean to ride. We also have to give big thanks to the AMA Pro Road Racing crew for lifting our stalled bike over the pit wall before everyone came back around track again. Not only did they get it safely out of the way in time, but they lifted it over the tall Mid-Ohio wall by hand!”

Prior to Sunday’s race, the Riders Discount Triumph crew was able make the most of the data gathered on the backup Triumph 675R used during race one by improving the setup for Pascarella. This showed in the race, when Pascarella put in substantially faster times than the day before. He ended up finishing just outside of the top ten in 11th place.

“Overall, this wasn’t the weekend that the team and I were hoping for, but we are all very determined to improve. I am looking forward to next weekend and I feel that Laguna will suit us better.”

Joey Pascarella and Riders Discount Triumph are very optimistic going forward and they are ready for the next challenge. This challenge will come in just a few days time, when the Riders Discount Triumph truck and crew arrive at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California for the 5th round of racing during the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.

Riders Discount Triumph has completed a successful weekend of testing at Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan. Joey Pascarella and team owner Brian Gibson, himself a former AMA Pro competitor, spent Saturday and Sunday of the holiday weekend putting a pair of 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R’s through their paces in order to further develop the machines for the remainder of the AMA Daytona Sportbike season. The weekend was an opportunity not only to gather more data on the new bikes, but also to give fellow riders and fans a first hand look at just how capable the 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R is as a track weapon.

“This past weekend’s riding was great,” said Joey Pascarella. “We were all relaxed and having fun, but also working really hard. It was a good atmosphere and we were able to make a ton of progress with the new 2013 Triumph 675R’s as a result. It’s always a great feeling to be able to work and have so much fun at the same time. I am so excited and confident going into Mid-Ohio. I just can’t wait to get back out on track!”

Brian Gibson had this to say: “After being off the bike since competing in the 2012 AMA Supersport race at Road America it definitely felt good to be out on the track again. My body might disagree, but it is wonderful getting out there and twisting the grip on these new 2013 Triumph 675R’s nonetheless. Getting to test with Joey at my home track of Grattan Raceway was great fun. I have many, many laps under my belt there and Joey ended up going very, very quick – and in less than ideal conditions, no less. I am very satisfied with the results of the test and look forward to improvements at the next AMA round at Mid-Ohio.”

Birmingham, AL (June 24) – Joey Pascarella and his 2013 Riders Discount Triumph 675R continued improve during the Triumph SuperBike Classic at Barber Motorsports park this weekend. Pascarella managed his quickest pace in qualifying and two top ten finishes in the Daytona Sportbike Class – ending up ninth in race one and tenth in race two.

“We started the weekend looking for improvements,” said Pascarella. “Both of the new 2013 Triumph 675R’s felt a lot better from the get-go on Friday than they did at Road America. I felt more comfortable on one of them than the other, so we used that as our base setting and worked on it from there. This gave us a pretty good pace by the time we got to the first qualifying session on Friday and I ended up tied with Westby in seventh. The crew made some changes to the bike overnight and it felt even more comfortable on Saturday morning. In the final qualifying session I was able to go quicker and moved up to the sixth spot on the grid.”

Saturday’s race itself began with a good start, but a small moment in the sixth lap caused Pascarella to drop back before fighting back into the top ten.

Regarding race one, Pascarella added, “We started off quick, but I was struggling for grip and ended up making a small mistake which led to running off track at one point. I was able to recover and got back up to ninth by the end.”

Sunday began with more changes having been made to the Triumph overnight. The difference was immediately apparent in the warm up, when Pascarella posted the second quickest time of the morning session. Confident going into race two, Pascarella was able to get out of the gate with a solid start until balance issues from a spun tire and a lack of grip slowed his pace. He was still able to maintain a top ten position, and left the weekend’s racing feeling confident about the team’s progress.

“I was super happy with the bike this morning,” said Pascarella on Sunday afternoon. “We were second in the morning warm up, and almost went as fast as we did in qualifying on a used set of tires. I was excited going into the race today, but struggled with grip once the track temps got hotter in the afternoon. Overall, the crew did an awesome job improving the bike this weekend and it’s feeling much better than the last time out at Road America. We’re obviously fast, as we showed in qualifying and practice, and we just need to keep working at finding the grip when the track is hot and greasy. I know we can run up front when we do!”

Bree Poland, Riders Discount Triumph team manager, had this to say about weekend at Barber, “This weekend was good for the team. We are finally figuring things out and managed to claim two top ten finishes. Of course we would like to be up front battling for podiums, but we’re quite happy with the the progress we’ve made. Joey ended up second quickest in Sunday morning’s warm up, which gave us some good momentum going into the afternoon’s race. Unfortunately Joey’s rear tire spun on the rim and we were unable to convert that into a podium position. Teething pains like these won’t happen again.”

Joey Pascarella would like to thank his sponsors: Riders Discount, Triumph, Speed and Strength, K-Tech, Shoei, Akrapovic, Dunlop, Motion Pro, Zero Gravity, Vicci, Maxima, Saddlemen, Sidi, Forcefield Armour, Renthal, Andrew Swenson Designs, Hanshaw Engines, GB Covers, Brembo, Cap-It Tire Warmers, Spiegler, Attack Performance, Utopia, Sharkskinz, Drippinwet, Pitbull, Fastbikes USA.

Over the past month a lot has been going on. I flew to Riders Discount in Holland, Michigan to meet up with everyone and pick up a lovely Triumph 675. From there I drove all the way back to Las Vegas, Nevada to race the second round of Wera west and get used to the bike. Needless to say I had a great weekend and had so much fun on the Triumph and was a great boost of confidence knowing I enjoyed the bike. Afterwards, I went home and back to the daily grind of work and training for a couple weeks. Recently this week I had to do the great long drive again back to Riders Discount. I made it finally and it is great to be back at the shop watching my beautiful Riders Discount Triumph 675 R being built and seeing everyone that I will be working with for 2013. So right now i am sitting in RD kicking back relaxed writing this blog realizing how lucky I am to have such a great group of people behind me and how excited I am to get racing.
