Proton Turn Signals

Bright, cut to fit your bike and made with high-quality components, Proton turn signals are some of the best-fitting, easy to install turn signals we’ve seen. Best of all, they’re designed, tested and produced in the USA. We’ve seen some turn signal kits that allow you to adjust the rate at which your signals flash but these require extra black boxes to be mounted on your bike. Proton lights don’t work like that but rather, using their proprietary circuitry, Proton flushmounts can be set to flash as a normal, fade in/fade out or strobe effect. These signals present a truly unique design by anyone’s standards.

Ever installed a set of LED turn signals thinking, “alright, saved some weight and got some cool, bright lights” only to realize they blink excessively fast when you test them? DOH! Chances are, nobody told you that you also needed a relay or flash controller of some sort. At that point, you’re either stuck with the odd flash rate or you had to figure out what sort of controller your bike required, take all the bodywork off, fuss with wiring diagrams and basically start over again. With Proton turn signals, there’s no need to install load balancers and extra wiring for front and rear signals – everything you need is included in one small package.

Proton flushmount turn signals are actually circuit boards housed in CNC-machined, waterproof acrylic casings. Each turn signal contains twelve bright LEDs and there is no cutting or bending of bodywork to make them fit. Simply remove your old turn signals, install the Proton flushmounts and wire them up. Typically, CNC work is reserved for metal products like engine case covers and frame sliders where there is little tolerance for incorrectly sized products. Cut from a solid block of UV-stabilized hard acrylic plastic, Proton flushmounts fit perfectly. The shape of the flushmount design allows them to elicit a bright light over a large area when the LEDs are flashing.

We’ve installed Proton flushmounts on our own Triumph Daytona 675 & Yamaha YZF-R1 and we’re happy to report the fit is perfect. On the Yamaha, the signals actually fit into the recess of the OEM bodywork whereas they sit on top of the 675 turn signal locations. In both cases, installation was a breeze and all the required hardware was included.

The most difficult part of putting these on your bike is choosing how you want the LEDs to blink: normal, strobe or fade in/fade out. There is no switch to change how the lights blink, but rather, you have to wire them into the OEM loom in a specific manner. There are four wires on each turn signal and the combination with which you use them into determines how the lights blink.

Clear instructions are provided on how to do this. You are required to cut off the

connectors from your (now) discarded OEM turn signals and wire the Proton lights into the bike with those. Proton also includes all the electrical bullet connects for attaching the wires to the OEM connector. We recommend using electrical tape to finish the job in a workman-like manner so that, even if you didn’t crimp the bullets enough, it’s less likely the new connections will fall apart from the vibration and g-force common to riding around on motorcycles.

Thanks to sophisticated internal circuitry, Proton flushmounts are polarity protected, so if you mis-wire them and/or overload them on voltage, you won’t damage the LEDs. The electrical load balancing circuitry insures the LEDs blink at the proper rate too, regardless of battery charge or battery output. Made in Massachusetts and backed by a one-year warranty (electrical items for motorcycles usually have a 90-day warranty at most), HighTechSpeed turn signals give your bike a unique look with reliable technology.
